AL-PCI2 and AL-PCI2-U are identical packages, except for the cable furnished with software.

AL-PCI2 = One cable end is designed to be used on a 9 pin serial COM PORT. The other end plugs into an Alarm Lock lock.

AL-PCI2-U = One cable end is designed to be used on a USB PORT. The other end plugs into an Alarm Lock lock.

If you don't want to carry your laptop from lock to lock, you can also purchase a Data Transfer Module. It simply is more convenient to carry around. You would still use the cable supplied with the software. It would just plug into the module instead of an Alarm Lock lock.
